About Us

Education Alternatives is the innovative day treatment agency in northern Ohio serving children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders.  Our agency uses a therapeutic, research-based approach to identify and treat the underlying reasons for a child’s behavior in a specialized educational environment.  This unique methodology leads to the child’s long-term emotional regulation allowing for academic success as a student and a secure foundation to prepare for adulthood.

Education Alternatives operates as a contract service provider to public school districts.  Students are referred to the program through the special education department of their public school in accordance with the Free and Appropriate Public Education Act (FAPE) that guarantees education for children with disabilities.  Students remain on their home district’s Average Daily Membership (ADM), and all grades are received and diplomas awarded through the home district.
